Starting with labels such as Idle Hands and Soundman Chronicles which you have released on, each label has their own distinctive sound and style. What sort of label were you aiming for when you established Wisdom Teeth, and please tell us what your current goals are as well?
I think when we started we’d been obsessed almost exclusively with dubstep and set up the label during a time when there were a string of producers who had roots in that sound but had started writing slower stuff around 130 bpm. We knew so many producers who were sitting on so much great unreleased music that it seemed a good time to start. I think the label has always been a documentation of what we’ve been into as the years have gone by. I think now we approach releases in quite a functional way so putting out LPs works well for start-to-finish listening potentially at home, but we also love and write functional club music and the blending of that sound with something a bit more soulful.
