As someone I met occasionally at parties and events, Mana Morimoto always struck me as a girl who has her own unique tempo and sense of things. But since we were both invariably in a chipper mood at those times, we had never had a serious conversation, and it wasn't until later that I learned of her creative pursuits. It was a few years ago that I saw photos of her installations filled with colorful thread strung everywhere and made up my mind that I was absolutely going to visit her next exhibition. I finally hear that she was going to be showing some new work this spring. My much-awaited chance to speak with Morimoto in depth about the origins of this mysteriously-named series that features AI-generated imagery and her journey up to this point had arrived at last.
