At home we had access to books and magazines on the world of architecture and art, especially from the 1920s to the 90s, from de Stijl, Beuys and Uecker to Ellsworth Kelly, Superstudio and Donald Judd. Our house was an extension to a simple building from the 60s in a small village close to the French border, furnished quite strictly according to the “Bauhaus formula”. Tubular steel furniture, a floor made of rubber and art on the walls: Marcia Hafif, Raimer Jochims, Klaus Staudt, Vera Molnar, Dora Maurer, etc. I suspect that this environment had a strong influence on me and my brother, even though he now works as a lawyer and thus follows a completely different path. A few years before we moved out, my parents built a post-modern house.
