Michael Raymond Russell / Drumetrics (1/2)

I heard that your music hobby originated in the solo drum breaks of bands from the 1960s and 70s. What was it about those drum sounds that attracted you back then?
Yes indeed, it all started with my good friends/brothers David Barragan, Johnny Valedez and William Bensussan. They all had in common a small vinyl collection of old bands with drum solos in their productions to 1990s underground hip hop music with heavy sampled breaks, which inspired me to start digging for 1960s/70s vinyl in search for open breaks and samples. Then after collecting more and more vinyl, I figured one day I would run out breaks to sample, so why not collect and produce with vintage instruments that were utilized in the 1960s/70s? After recording my first vintage drum set, I created a website called Dirty Drums. I uploaded the single shot drums to the website so you could actually play the drums on the computer keyboard.
