From the late 90s to late 2000s you were also doing almost too many
things to count, like forming Indopepsychics, playing outdoor parties in Japan,
performing overseas, introducing field recording, and launching Final Drop.
Definitely.
Indope started in the mid-90s as some beatmaking experiments using sampled
music with
D.O.I. before he became an engineer and
Nik, who I met at Tower
Records. Then, as a result of focusing more and more on style, format, sounds,
textures, and technology, we started veering towards audio and things like
field recording. That was also around when my interest shifted from the
entertainment aspects of music to sound and artistic expression, which, when I
think about it, was a pretty natural progression.
