When I first saw Jen Everett’s installation work Unheard Sounds, Come Through, it reminded me of the building blocks I used to assemble as a child to shape something from my imagination. Of course, this installation is not a set of building blocks— Yet, there is a corresponding directness that resonated with us. The intuitive yet meticulous layout, the tasteful selection of objects acquired from thrift stores, and the ingenious combination of these elements make this installation even more refined. Furthermore, the "something" she aims to express here provides rich communicative power. This eloquence conveys the image with realism beyond words, even to those of us who cannot directly experience her roots and background.
