I would imagine once you live abroad there would be more opportunities to think about Spanish culture and being Spanish. Please share any thoughts you might have had on that.
When I left my home, I made it my mission to travel as widely as I could so that, when I returned, I could view my homeland with fresh eyes and learn more about our roots. I didn’t begin to value things like our love for ‘sobremesa’ until after I had left.
You said that you first began painting in oil on canvas after moving to Rome. Did you have any difficulty in learning the technique? And what changes did you find in your ability to express yourself by actually painting with a brush?
Although there are certain similarities between digital and conventional painting, I believe they are two different mediums that cannot be compared on an equal footing. When I started painting with oils I ran into some technical issues, but thank God the paintings turned out okay; I simply needed to become acquainted with the medium and its behaviour, particularly the chemistry. Although in all honesty, the biggest change was finally giving my eyes a break after spending so much time staring at screens
