Actual Source has two websites: one which functions as the portfolio for their design studio; the other is a webstore which offers publications and apparel that they have worked upon for sale, as well as a curated selection of various magazines and artist books. Since the latter is where I first became acquainted with them, my curiosity was piqued because I was not immediately able to grasp what they were about at the time. And then, once I found out that they were a design studio, I was surprised by the fact that these two old friends chose to center their activities not in the usual big cities but in Utah, and above all, I was most interested in what motivates them. It is not hard to imagine how challenging it must be to operate a store while proceeding steadily with both independent and client-based design projects at the same time. To tell the truth, I would like to have had a more in-depth conversation with them, but that will be something I will have to look forward to someday when the opportunity arises.
