Isao Suzuki & DJ Kensei

OMA’N’SEI is a special unit formed by legendary bassist Isao Suzuki, who has led the Japanese jazz scene and continues to be active, and DJ Kensei, a top Japanese DJ known for staying ahead of the scene.
Isao Suzuki has had a remarkable career, beginning with performances at U.S. military bases in the 1950s, being discovered by Art Blakey in 1970 and moving to the United States, and collaborating and interacting with many prominent New York jazz musicians. As a jazz bassist, cellist, and composer, he has been at the forefront of the music scene, releasing over 50 albums. In recent years, he has collaborated with artists like DJ Mitsu the Beats, Tavito Nanao, K-Bomb, and Sibitt, expanding his activities beyond the jazz world.
DJ Kensei is known for his wide-ranging DJ skills and his pursuit of the possibilities within the craft. As a Hip Hop DJ, he played fresh sounds in numerous clubs throughout the late 80s and mainly the 90s. He continues to be active, controlling the atmosphere at various venues, and has also released numerous works under various names from a DJ’s perspective.
The collaboration between Isao Suzuki and DJ Kensei began with their joint performance at “Beacon In The City” held at WWW in Shibuya in 2013. Their live recording New Alchemy was released on November 19, 2014, by rings, a new label launched by writer Masaaki Hara.
