Slowing
down the rotation speed of a record causes all kinds of changes, not only in
tempo, but also in the pitch of the sound. What do you think is newly created
by reducing the speed?
MaurizioYes, it’s totally a new track when you play
a vinyl at the wrong speed. Just
one thing proves that it is something created new: no web crawler is able to
detect the original, neither SoundCloud nor YouTube,
to name a few…
UgoWhen sound changes, our perception changes. When our perception changes,
our conscience changes. We discover this through practice. After our DJ sets, many people come and
say: “What did you do to the sound? I felt like I was on
drugs even though I didn’t take any.” So, what happens to
our senses when sound is not what you expect it to be? I suggest going through Oliver Sacks research, Musicophilia.
