Susumu Mukai

I would like to ask about your music activities. When you look back on your previous works, how do you perceive your own transition?
I have a desire to simplify, and have more direct approach in the creative process now. I don’t mean for the music I create to be minimal necessarily, but for the process to be more direct, like child’s play. Right now, I'm making music with Valentina Magaletti, the drummer of Vanishing Twin, and I feel like have returned to my origin.
With the many differences between bands, units, and solo music, not to mention live performances and recordings, what kind of environment do you find the most enjoyable now?
I entered the music scene with live performances with others, and I think that’s why I do so many collaborations. I think that performing with others live is good for the soul and is an important part for me. Whether solo or with others, improvising leads to the creation of unexpected and unique pieces, whether live or recording.
