Conceptual label Salvaged Tapes
launches the editorial project
LIGHT COURT
to mark its 10th anniversary.

Tokyo-based conceptual label Salvaged Tapes celebrates its 10th anniversary with the launch of an editorial project, LIGHT COURT.

Named after the architectural term “light court,” the project aims to foster a loose-knit network and mutual support system for artists who continue to operate independently, outside major labels. Unlike Salvaged Tapes’ past approach of producing music in curated collections since 2018, LIGHT COURT adopts an artist-driven referral system, focusing on digitizing previously unreleased and archival recordings.

The first release, launched on January 27th, features two works by the ingenious drummer Shu Akimoto, known for his performances with DC/PRG, led by Naruyoshi Kikuchi, and Suga Dairo Trio. The albums, Difference/Location and Discrepancy/Location, were originally released as a double-CD set in 2020 and are now making their digital debut. Each album includes the previously unreleased track GPS, featuring ermhoi, a member of Black Boboi, on vocals.

*Note:
Initially, both titles had the same name Difference/Location on CD, avoiding taking us as fraudulent content for digitalizing, named Discrepancy/Location for Japanese title 差異/現在地.

Following this, the second release is set for February 5th—the long-awaited digital debut of CIRCUS CARAVAN, the first EP by NOISE BRASS BAND. Known for its melodic compositions and literary lyricism that vividly capture fleeting moments, this EP had been available exclusively as a venue-only release. With its upcoming digital distribution, it will now reach a wider audience.
