Numerous fashion visuals reach our eyes daily through all the various forms of media. Published one after the other, even though some may have their moment to shine, the majority are soon forgotten. However, Ignasi Monreal’s work cannot be so quickly dismissed. My curiosity was piqued from the moment his work caught my eye, and I sought to find out the secrets and metaphors that were surely hidden within. What could be the nature of this addictive fascination? With realism that blurs the lines between photography, he gives rise to fantasy from the other side of reality, and like painting with a traditional touch, he also adds the spice of refined pop. Perhaps this poetic harmony of these contrasting elements is his true essence, or perhaps, we can somehow accept it even if we are told that this is how he actually sees the world.
Thrust into fame from the projects lead by Alessandro Michele at Gucci, he moves around the world as if celebrating his freedom yet in reality his continued challenges as an innovator in pursuit of new progress is easy to understand when you look at his experiences and results up until now.
