Interview (2025)

What was your childhood environment like?
My dad lived in the inner city and my mum about an hour away in the suburbs surrounded by a lot of bushland and beach. My brothers and I would bounce back and forth from these places. I live in the city now, though my mum is still up there, and I often find the need to head up or into some sort of nature.
How did growing up in Sydney, Australia influence your musicality and sensibilities?
I think the environments mentioned play a part in this. The meeting point of nature and technology has always been of interest to me.
What was the main motivation behind starting your own label, Moonshoe Records?
I connected with a few friends that also happened to be oddballs making electronic music in their bedrooms, Freda & Oedura, who are both still great friends and collaborators. We were all quite young and were surrounded by a scene of bands. I created Moonshoe to try to present the stuff that we were doing—at the time we didn’t really know of many people doing anything similar around where we lived.
