Koshiro Kihara

It’s clear that Kenshiro’s presence is significant. Do you find that you understand yourself better when you are with him?
Yes. Our thoughts and concerns regarding creation are almost the same, and I am certain that he has had the exact same experiences and feelings as I have. So in a way, looking at Kenshiro is the same as looking at myself. We are frequently involved in each other’s work. Sometimes we only give verbal advice, but other times we share conceptual ideas and even incorporate them into our work. Of course, we create our paintings separately, but we are involved in each other’s thoughts as well, including some trivial tasks and assistant work such as asking to paint something black, for example.
