What led you from playing in acoustic, instrumental bands like Town and
Country or Bird Show to working with modular synths and more interdisciplinary
projects around 2010? And how did that shift change the way you relate to
sound?
With
both Town and Country and Bird Show I was becoming more and more interested in
synthesizing sounds through the combining of acoustic voices. I had been
playing around with simple home studio experiments and collecting instruments
from different parts of the world—basically
I was expanding the sonic palette I was working with and starting to use
synthesizers was just an extension of this.
