Were you approaching things with a fresh mindset?
There may have been a little of a “if we don’t work a little harder than usual, this could very well be the end of the road for us” sense of crisis.
So you were working harder? For some reason it felt like you had actually loosened up a bit.
I think that was also part of it. Maybe not “loosened up” so much as it didn’t seem like we could keep going as we were, so we just let ourselves go like we had nothing to lose.
It feels like your sound continually evolves with each album. Would you say that every time you release something it’s kind of a break or an end?
If you include composition, each album takes us quite a long time to make, so yeah, after we release something and wrap up the tour there is a sense of having reached a break or ending point.
