I would like to ask you about the first album Muster as Beispiel, a collaborative project with Jan Jelinek, which you mentioned. Jelinek and you had an irregular series of joint sessions since 2016, specifically what were the setups, and what kind of atmosphere and feeling did the sessions have? Also, the post-recording process seems to have been fairly limited; what did you value on there?
We’ve known each other for years and have similar taste in music, so we thought why not do some sessions just for fun? We met a few times at Jan’s studio (which is very close to my apartment) to record in a relaxed atmosphere, no preparation, rehearsals, etc. We both used small Eurorack systems, oscillators, filters, sampling, and some effects. Our idea was to make electronic music, totally improvised, free floating, without a special meaning. To keep it simple, we just used the standard stereo outs of our systems, so we ended up with four recording tracks from each session. Each of us then edited the sessions separately, basically just cutting and EQ-ing. We wanted to leave the music as untouched as possible, just as it came out of the machines. Jan then made the selection for the final album release.
