One of our first encounters with your work was “Zizzlerz” from esstends-esstends-esstends(2012). Though abstract, it felt melodic and intimate. Was that something you aimed for? And how do you view melody or emotion in abstract compositions?
This probably just goes back to my love of Morton Feldman’s music. His ability to create compositions that introduce harmonic complexities and dissonance but without ever forfeiting beauty.  There is no harmonic/melodic default for a truly experimental music. It is easy to get caught up on the surfaces of a music in determining style or genre, but this is very limited and a conservative way of thinking about what makes a music experimental. Music is so effective at using abstraction to spark emotions.  This is what it might do best, and why would I want to avoid this thing that is so potent in the medium?
