I
read that With the Birds (under the name Posm) stemmed from impromptu sessions with four friends during
a brief escape from isolation in the Bilgola hills. Can you share how the
natural environment and those sessions inspired this work?
The house where we had these
sessions was situated on top of a very big hill. Cockatoos, kookaburras,
lorikeets and magpies would be flying literally underneath our eye-line. Often
they would also fly up into the house to sit on the balcony and sing along.
Several of your works, such
as With the
Birds and Hudson released through Nummer Music, were
created during the isolation brought on by the pandemic. How did
facing such physical restrictions during lockdown impact your creative style
and approach to music-making?
Some of the few positives of
that lockdown was that it led us to look within. I was also lucky to be
surrounded by so much bushland, which I felt inspiring. It also granted me a
lot of time in the studio and less social distraction.
