As an artist who is involved with fashion brands and fashion magazines, how do you see the fashion industry and the fashion world today? And if you want something there, what would it be?
There’s a lack of transparency by brands and governments and a lack of accountability on our part as consumers to make sure they’re doing what’s right. Sustainability isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about trying, even if it’s one thing at a time. Personally, I want to see a genuine attempt at making a difference, and an eco-conscious capsule collection during Earth Month is not it.
Which of the projects you have created so far has been a turning point in your career?
Auctioning off pieces to raise money for BLM was an important moment for me. I was fortunate to raise a lot of money for organizations in need, and it also started a lot of conversations on the importance of community. It also lead to me becoming Arc’teryx’s first design ambassador, which felt like happenstance.
