MEWe (I) have a habit of making rules. As you said, we decided to release it on the last Friday of each month so it became a ritual for people; and although it was digital and free, we did it as a limited edition of 100 so it became desirable. Because people had to register their email addresses to be sent the publication, it was interesting seeing designers from Nike and Adidas getting copies. We also used the back catalogue for a couple of exhibitions, one in Dublin and another on a tiny island off Ireland called Innis Oirr. Conceptually, the idea was to really to breathe life back into killed work.  Is FIN? fin? Never say never I say.

I see you recently renewed your website, what were the objectives of the renewal? Also, what is your view on the future role that websites will play now that social networking sites are being used as portfolios?
DRLiterally exactly what you have said here: the idea to renew our website is essentially because Instagram is dead. I think it’s no secret that engagement on social media for creators is pretty much over. Unless you are making face-to-camera content or jumping on the latest trend, the algorithms have fucked creators, so we feel that more and more people will look to your website to get an insight into your studio or your creative practice. We feel websites are way more important than your social media portfolio now. We will continue to share work on these platforms as we do get jobs through them, but we feel now more than ever an updated and constantly updated website is far more integral to our creative practice. Also it’s another reason why SOOT is very exciting as a new way to showcase your portfolio. We are all a slaves to the algorithm—we have been thinking of new ways to use social platforms but are still in the early stages of this development… to be continued.
