Koshiro Kihara

In your solo exhibition held in January this year, you presented transparent artwork using cellophane as a motif. How did you come to this new approach?
As I mentioned earlier, each medium and series has its own freedoms and constraints, and when I feel constrained during creation, I try using different materials to break free from those limitations, or I try a different approach. Up until then, I had mainly used clay and paint, but cellophane is even closer to paint in that they both possess color and a flat motif, which made me feel it brought abstract and concrete elements closer together.
