DR.ME

Polaroid— This feels like a big project for the studio as it is the first time we had really overseen and created work for a huge campaign that is only growing and growing. There were a lot of aspects to this to manage, a lot of assets to create and we really had to jump between various styles and techniques but make sure it all lived in the same universe. We have really learnt a lot from this project.
How would you simply describe DR.ME’s strength as a studio? Or, when talking about DR.ME, what would be the key words or phrases you would use?
DRI think an AI generated bio that we created for our new website best sums it up. “DR.ME is a daring and disruptive design studio, pushing creative boundaries with their fearless approach to visual communication”
MEVisual universe architects.
Please tell us about some of the projects you have worked on recently, including their ideas and concepts?
DRProbably the biggest project we worked on recently was for Polaroid as I mentioned. We were approached to create the visual identity for Polaroid Radio, which was going to be a new platform for Polaroid to have 24 hour radio to launch alongside their new Bluetooth speaker. The idea was to brand the radio station itself and five radio stations each playing different genres. We worked with creative directors Derick Gee and Joshua Thomas to create an identity for each station. It felt like drawing on ten years of experience in branding and working with artists of all different genres and backgrounds to bring that all together into this one project: we created logos, videos, posters and still continue to work with Polaroid on this today. The idea behind it was we wanted each station to feel unique but all sit under the same umbrella, which was challenging but we found little graphic ideas that link and tie all the stations together while still maintaining their own identity. It’s a really exciting project and we’re happy to be part of this journey which was a brave move for Polaroid: to go into an industry they had never been in before, and to trust us to take them through it visually. The stations themselves are curated by excellent music selectors and DJs who we have on regularly in the studio.
