Nigh Magazine Issue5: Personal Perspective

Introduction

When we come in contact with our limitless universe, we perceive it through our intrinsic perspective. Through our authentic viewpoint we are moved to sympathize with our surroundings, questioning and interpreting them, in an attempt to give them meaning. Yet, we risk clouding or even replacing our own point of view by being concerned with other perspectives. Although we may further clarify our own viewpoints through introspection, there is no need for us to push aside our feelings to be prompted by or to pander to outside opinions—we just need to be as honest as we can to ourselves.

Whether expressing or perceiving something, the starting point should simply be from the irreplaceable standpoint of how we feel about it. In contrast to our unique perspective, public opinion and superficial information are dubious and unreliable. It’s not worth the trouble to fetter ourselves down by viewing the world through those lenses as we lose sight of what is right in front of us, clearly visible.

There are so many things in the world that are yet to be created. However, they cannot be attained through corroboration or preconceived ideas, nor can they be reached through keeping pace with society. The key to entering into these unknown realms is the genuine sensitivity housed within each individual, and their unique point of view founded upon it. The more honest we are to ourselves, the clearer our impressions become and those interpretations deepen, expanding our imaginations to reach unexpected places.

If we could unabashedly express our inherent feelings and the flashes of inspiration from our innocent perspectives as they reveal themselves to us, they might take on a wholly new form for the world.
